The winners of the Bike Week Colouring Competition received their certificates and prizes at Council Chambers on Monday. Narrandera Shire Council held the colouring competition for
children in Kindergarten to Year 6 in addition to the successful ‘Bring out your bike Narrandera’ event on Sunday 29 September.
Councillor Barbara Bryon presented the prizes, which included a Eurells Narrandera voucher, to primary division winners Isobel Dwyer and Macey Curran, and the infants division winners Rosie O’Day and Alyssa Sweeney.
“Many of the entries we received were very creative and of a high standard, making the judging very difficult,” said Cr Kschenka who reviewed the entries.
The colouring in competition received 178 entries – 142 in the infants category and 36 in the primary category. The entries are on display in the Council Chambers windows facing East Street for the next week.
“We are grateful for the support of the competition sponsor, Eurells Narrandera, and the local schools, Barellan Central, Binya Public, East Street Infants, Narrandera Public and St Joseph’s, for encouraging their students to enter,” Mayor Kschenka continued.
NSW Bike Week is an annual event held each September. This initiative, run by Transport for NSW and local communities, celebrates all things cycling and encourages the use of local cycling infrastructure for transport and recreation.
