Domestic Water Filter Unit Cleaning

As recently advised, Council is implementing a new measure that will see residences affected by dirty water receive a domestic filter unit to reduce the impact and incidence of coloured water.

Council will supply four washable filter cartridges with the filter unit, which will be installed on the house side of the water meter by Council, or a selected contractor, at no cost to the property owner.

These systems have been tested over the past few months with those property owners being very happy with the results.

Once installed, the unit is the responsibility of the property owner including any repairs or replacement of filters. Full maintenance instructions will be provided at the time of installation to assist residents and each filter cartridge should last for around six months. The filter cartridges need cleaning approximately every four to six weeks.

This treatment will ensure the water entering the property has reduced discolouration, however there will be several older properties with cast iron water pipes which may still experience discoloured water at times.
