Cr Galvin farewell by Mayor Kschenka

Councillors undertook the bi-annual Mayor and Deputy Mayor election at the Council meeting held 15 September 2020. Narrandera Shire Council congratulates Mayor Cr Neville Kschenka and Deputy Mayor Cr David Fahey on their re-election until the 2021 Council election.

At the close of meeting, Council also farewelled Cr Tammy Galvin after serving four years as councillor. Since her election in September 2016, Cr Galvin has served as a councillor delegate and/or alternate delegate on several committees including:

  • Arts and Culture
  • Local Emergency Management Committee
  • Murray Darling Association (Group 9)
  • Narrandera Library Committee
  • Noxious Weeds Advisory Committee
  • Public Libraries NSW Western Riverina Community Library Committee

Cr Galvin said of her time on Council, “I have loved it, for the greater part - it’s all about community. I work with state, federal and local government in my full-time work, but being a Councillor offers that insight into how local government functions on a deeper level, particularly with state and federal levels.

“I believe that Narrandera is on the verge of something incredible in terms of local and regional development space. The potential is rich and with the impacts of COVID-19 this is becoming more apparent than ever.”

Mayor Cr Neville Kschenka has applauded Cr Galvin’s dedication to our community over the last four years, “On behalf of my fellow Councillors and Council, I would like to thank you for your contribution. Your efforts towards improving Narrandera Shire and as a representative of Narrandera Shire have been outstanding. I wish you good fortune and success for your future endeavours.”

The next Council election has been postponed due to COVID-19 and will occur September 2021, as advised by the Minister for Local Government.
