Narrandera Shire Council is seeking ideas from the community for Round Two of the Australian Government’s Drought Communities Programme.
The Australian Government recently announced that drought affected areas will receive additional funding to assist rural communities and to stimulate local economy, with Narrandera Shire set to receive an additional $1,000,000 in 2020.
- The first round of projects included:
- The purchase of mobile watering units and the employment of casual employees to water street trees across the Shire.
- The installation of irrigation systems for street trees in sections of Red Hill Industrial Estate, Irrigation Way entrance, Elizabeth Street and Larmer Street.
- The new entrance sign and landscaping at Lake Talbot Water Park.
- Additional kerbing at the Narrandera Cemetery entrance and landscaping.
- Co-contribution towards the Library Youth Space.
- The gateway entry to East Street from Whitton Street including blisters and landscaping works.
- Projects at each of the Shire Community Halls.
- New perimeter fencing at Barellan Sportsground, new oval boundary fencing at Narrandera Sportsground and removal of the old fence at Brewery Flat oval.
- Installation of the award winning mural artwork on the Narrandera Water Tower including the construction of new road, signage, landscaping and clearing.
