2019 Narrandera Shire Bike Week

Narrandera residents showed their support for Bike Week by bringing out their bikes and getting involved in the Bike Week activities at Marie Bashir Park on Sunday 29 September.

Narrandera Shire Council’s Road Safety Officer Elizabeth Mudford said, “Bring out your bike Narrandera encouraged participants to come and ride on shared path routes and enjoy bike themed activities.”

“There was plenty of community involvement with free bike maintenance checks provided by Eurells and the Lions Club helping out.”

The free helmet exchange which gave riders the opportunity to swap their old helmet for a new one was popular with more than 30 new helmets distributed.

Younger riders enjoyed cycling within the park. More experienced riders used the shared paths to venture further. The Lions Train and face painting were also a highlight of the day.

Great Cycle Challenge participant, Sameera Bashir, led a group of riders on parts of Narrandera’s Town track and Wetlands track.

“It was great to have experienced riders attending and mentoring some of the younger riders,” Ms Mudford continued.

The event concluded with participants enjoying a sausage sizzle cooked by Narrandera Lions Club and receiving a free bike safety sample bag with bike safety information, bike maintenance kit, spoke beads, bell and slap bands provided by Transport for NSW.
