Join Australia Day Ambassador, Matthew Levy OAM, at Narrandera Shire’s celebrations!
On Sunday 26 January Narrandera Shire will come together to celebrate Australia and being Australian. It promises to be the biggest celebration so far, with Australia Day Ambassador, Matthew Levy OAM, set to join in our festivities.
Known for his work as a Paralympian, Matthew who was born 15 weeks premature has cerebral palsy and is vision impaired, has represented Australia in swimming at three past Paralympic games - Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012. He is proud to be an Australia Day Ambassador and to visit Narrandera Shire and join in with our community celebrations.
Narrandera Shire Mayor Cr Neville Kschenka is excited that Matthew has taken the time to join Narrandera Shire on such an important day.
“Australia Day is an opportunity for everyone living in Narrandera Shire to come together as a community. Australia Day means different things to different people – and that’s part of the rich fabric of the day.”
“We all have different stories to share about this country and Australia Day is a great occasion to reflect on how lucky we are to be Australian. I know that Narrandera Shire will put on a brilliant day and having Matthew here just makes it all the more special.”
“I encourage everyone living in Narrandera Shire to come down and participate in the many activities and events we have on offer. Let’s show the rest of Australia how great our community is” said Mayor Kschenka.
Australia Day Ambassadors generously volunteer their time and share their Australian story at hundreds of community events on Australia Day. Our Ambassadors continue to inspire communities where they become a guest of honour and participate in activities as diverse as the communities themselves. Australia Day is for everyone, and we encourage each and every person in the Narrandera Shire community to take part in the very special activities.
