Narrandera travelled back in time over the long weekend, with Narrandera Tourism hosting a drive-in cinema screening the 1970s classic "Grease". On Saturday evening Henry Mathieson Oval was filled with over 130 cars and featured a14 x 7 metre air-screen film presentation for Narrandera Shire residents, Riverina locals and visitors to enjoy in a COVID-Safe environment.
Narrandera Shire Youth Councillors and Narrandera Tourism dressed to impress for the occasion, wearing Pink Ladies' and T-Birds outfits. While the Tourism team oversaw management and logistics, our Youth Councillors oversaw the old school candy bar, serving popcorn and ice creams to the public. Council would like to thank local groups Narrandera Junior Rugby League and Narrandera Little Athletics Committees who together managed the kiosk providing attendees delicious hot food options throughout the evening.
This inaugural and sold out event is a huge success for Narrandera Tourism. Narrandera Shire Council’s Events and Visitor Services Supervisor, Toneale O’Connell advising it may be the first of more, “Post-event feedback was remarkably positive with many commending the event organisers – ‘food, movie choice, and staff were all enjoyable features of the night’.”
“The majority of our attendees have also indicated they would be extremely likely to attend another drive-in style event - so watch this space!”
